The Gignese museum is the only one in the world dedicated to the theme of the umbrella and parasol: over a thousand pieces are preserved there, including umbrellas, parasols and handles. The museum houses curious pieces of considerable historical and cultural value: from the umbrella of Queen Margherita of Savoy to the one that belonged to Giuseppe Mazzini among others. The examples in the display cases are all of rare workmanship and exquisitely crafted, displayed following a path specifically designed to enchant the eyes and amaze the mind of the visitor.

In the section of the museum dedicated to the life of umbrella makers, photos of the first umbrella makers (“pioneers”) are exhibited, the rudimentary tools of the ancient workshops and those that accompanied them on the streets of Italy and the world.
