The Fondazione Museo Arti e Industria Forum di Omegna is a multipurpose structure created to promote historical research on the industrialization of Omegna and Cusio, the preservation of the historical memory of industry and craftsmanship in the area, and the documentation of technological processes.
The structure
The Forum stands on part of the land that was occupied by the Cobianchi steelworks, which was then abandoned with the progressive deindustrialization of the area. The reconversion of the area from a place of work and hardship to a new cultural and artistic center was entrusted to the prestigious studio of the architect Mendini, who was able to rebuild the physical space of the area with a highly original concept of structure and color.
The permanent exhibition
The exhibition area contains the permanent collection of objects from famous local household industries such as Bialetti, Alessi, Lagostina, etc. which have made Omegna the Italian capital of the production of coffee makers, pots and pans and all those objects that have revolutionized Italian and world culinary culture. This section is periodically flanked by temporary exhibitions that touch on various themes.
The structure, in collaboration with the Ecomuseum Association, promotes educational opportunities with local schools by providing its spaces for interactive workshops with young people from schools.
