Casa dei Nani (House of the Dwarves)

Casa Marangoni, the oldest house in Orta, is known by the curious name of La casa dei Nani (The House of the Dwarves) for the four small windows that are located above the wooden architrave. It dates back to the end of the 14th century, when legend has it that San Giulio arrived in Orta to chase dragons and snakes from the island. The house with stone columns with the architrave and the small windows above is located on the right of the Salita della Motta and is decorated with three frescoes: The Annunciation, The Ascension and the Madonna with Child.
